Andrew Ogaga Ejayeriese has been inaugurated as the new President of the Nigerian Association of Petroleum Explorationists (NAPE).
Ejayeriese was sworn in as President at the just concluded 35th Annual International Conference of the Association. He is the 40th President of the 42 year old Association.
A strong advocate for University – Industry collaboration and the improvement of the quality of Geosciences education in the Nigerian university system, he has served the association in various capacities before his new assignment. As President – Elect and Chairman of the Conference Planning Committee of the 35th Annual International Conference of the Association, he put together perhaps the most creative and innovative conference the association has ever held.
Ejayeriese is currently the General Manager, Nigeria Exploration, Mobil Producing Nigeria & Esso Companies, responsible for stewarding and providing oversight for all exploration activities in Nigeria. He has also worked on various geosciences assignments such as Team Lead, JV-LNG; Strategic Planning Advisor; Manager, Operations Technical geosciences; and General Manager, Operations Technical Geoscience Production.
Andrew obtained a Bachelor of Science Technology (B.Sc Tech) degree in Geophysics in 1987 from the Federal University of Technology Owerri (FUTO) and a Master’s degree in Business Administration (MBA) from the Enugu State University of Science & Technology in 1999.
At his inaugural address, he promised to build on the successes and great work done by previous presidents, grow the association by increasing membership through creating an inclusive environment for all industry stakeholders and advance the formation of more effective linkages between the state Chapters of the Association and Universities within their domains.
Additionally, he promised to work to ensure the enhancement of technical learning, training and impacting the wider society through their collective activities using already established avenues. He stated that he would use his over 27 year industry experience to strengthen the University Assistance Program (UAP) which has been acclaimed as the bridge for stronger geoscience education and pipeline for continuous growth in membership in the long term.
Andrew is a Fellow of the Nigerian Association of Petroleum Explorationists (FNAPE) and the Nigerian Mining and Geosciences Society (FNMGS). He has also won several prestigious awards including FUTO’s distinguished Alumnus award in 2002; Nigerian Association of Petroleum Explorationists (NAPE) award for Best Paper Oral Presentation in 2002; Patron award for excellence from the Geophysical Association of the Federal University of Technology, Akure (FUTA); Barbara McBride Leadership Award Finalist in 2008 & 2015 – An ExxonMobil Geoscience Global Leadership Award.
Ejayeriese is married with children.
