DPR sanctions 2 filling stations for hoarding fuel in Gombe

The Department of Petroleum Resources (DPR), Gombe office, has sanctioned two filling stations: Barikidi oil Nig. Ltd. Liji  and Manullahi Global Resource, Hina for alleged sharp practices.

TBI Africa reports that the incident occurred on Monday in Hinna village of Yamaltu/Deba Local Government Area of Gombe.

Manullahi Global Resource, Hina, was sanctioned for hoarding 26 ,000 litres of fuel and selling above pump price.

DPR also forced the petrol station to dispense fuel to motorists at pump price.

More than 300 litres of fuel in 10 jerry cans discovered beside the filling station was seized and given to motorists free of charge.

Speaking to newsmen, the Controller of DPR in Gombe, Abdullahi Abawa, said the filling station would be sealed after dispensing the fuel to the public.

“The filling station has four pump islands but one is out of use.

“And the remaining three pumps, their analogue analyzer were tempered with, so to get the accurate figure of the amount he sold is difficult.

‘‘Sanctioning the petrol station owner will serve as a deterrent to perpetrators of such act,” he said.

The DPR also sealed Barikidi oil Nig. Ltd. Liji for selling above pump price.

He expressed dismayed at the attitude of some marketers who were inflicting unnecessary hardship on the citizens.
